Works for me, with a few glitches. I keep getting the message "No address could be found for that hostname; make sure it is correct, and that your TCP/IP control panel is set to contact the correct domain name server." This message aborts any file uploads.
Command-A no longer does a select-all in the "Put Files" or "Put Files and Folders" dialogue boxes. Sometimes the circular status bar disappears when I'm moving files. Finally, if I click the stop button during a transfer, Fetch will unexpectedly quit.

Rschultz: Have you installed Kerberos software (before or after upgrading to Jaguar)? If so you should make sure to install the Kerberos for Mac Extras for OS X 10.2.
hyperizer: We're working on these problems -- thanks for the report.

JimMatthews: Kerberos doesn't have anything to do with it... but I do have it installed. It fails on lauch. I get:
Application Launch Failure
The application "Fetch" could not be launched because of a shared library error: ""<fatcarbon 1.5><fatcarbon 1.5><><>" -

Actually Kerberos has everything to do with it. That error indicates that one of the libraries that Fetch tried to load at startup failed with an error. All of the libraries that Fetch uses are built into OS X except for the MIT Kerberos libraries. The pre-10.2 versions of the MIT libraries will fail to load, and so keep Fetch from launching.
The fix is to install the Kerberos for Mac 4.0.2 Extras for OS X 10.2, which were released this week, and are available at http://web.mit.edu/macdev/Download/Mac_OS_X_10.2_Kerberos_Xtrs.bin

JimMatthews: Ahhh, sorry. I understand now. I "assumed" that since kinit worked within the terminal, that OSX.2 was fully kerberized. And also Fetch doesn't necessarily need to use Kerberos if it is connecting to a non-kerberized machine. So really, those library files should be included with Fetch if it requires them to run for people who don't care about the 3-headed dog.
Thanks for your help.Ryan

Although I've installed the Kerberos fix, I'm still unable to use Fetch with 10.2. In attempting to put an updated index.html file to my personal website, for example, that little dog just stays there running and the whole thing does nothing.
(Oddly, Fetch reports that it is sending 2,345 bytes of the file -- which actually is only 2,282 bytes in size.)
In short, I can connect to my server on XO just fine using Fetch, but cannot transfer files to the server. I can download (get) files just fine. Everything was hunky-dory until I installed Jaguar several days ago, so this is a mystery to me.

Rshultz: Fetch does not need the Kerberos Extras to run. It only has a problem launching on 10.2 if the machine has obsolete Kerberos libraries installed, and installing the 10.2 Kerberos Extras fixes that problem.
Ithanalon: Have you configured any firewall software on your Mac? Can you upload with any other FTP client?
Thanks,

Jim -- I'm not behind a firewall. I've also tried toggling passive FTP on and off and get the same results either way.
Although I don't primarily use it to transfer files, Dreamweaver MX's FTP client also appears to have this problem on my system.

Jim,
We logged off the DSL / AirPort and tried using Fetch on a 56K dialup and it worked fine.
Maybe there's a compatibility issue in DHCP?

I'm also having trouble getting Fetch 4.0.2 to work with Jaguar when I attempt to use a Kerberos-encrypted password. I have already installed the Kerberos extras package and it works with Eudora 5.1.1. With I set a Fetch 4.0.2 New Connection box to use KClient I get "Unknown error27001". If I set it to use a cleartext password, I get a warning message "Error: If you do not disconnect, your password will be sent insecurely to a server that supports security." If I choose "Ignore" I do get connnected. However, I think the warning means that the server can use Kerberos-encrypted passwords, but for some reaason it is not accepting the one Fetch is sending.

Ithanlon: It's more likely a problem with the NAT software or firewall in the base station. Could you post a transcript of a connection attempt through the base station with PASV selected?
Sib: Could you post the contents of the Fetch Transcript window after you get that error? I'm working on a couple of other KClient bugs but this is a new one to me.
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

A previous post suggested that 4.0.2 will fix the problems that Jaguar has with Fetch. I have not been albe to get it it work with Jaguar, and I am using 4.0.2.
