Fetch 5.8.3 is now available for download. This release adds support for macOS 13 Ventura. In addition, Fetch 5.8.3 fixes a number of bugs. See the release notes for details.

Fetch 5.8.3 is a free update if you purchased your Fetch license after January 28, 2009; otherwise an upgrade is $10, and a new license is $29. Fetch 5.8.3 requires macOS 13 Ventura, macOS 12 Monterey, macOS 11 Big Sur, macOS 10.15 Catalina, macOS 10.14 Mojave or macOS 10.13 High Sierra.

Please download Fetch 5.8.3 from the Fetch Download page at https://fetchsoftworks.com/fetch/download or by choosing Check for Update… from the Fetch menu. Fetch is no longer available in the Mac App Store; if you purchased a previous version of Fetch from the App Store and wish to upgrade to Fetch 5.8.3, please contact support at https://fetchsoftworks.com/fetch/feedback . And please let us know if you run into any problems with the new release.

    Thanks,

I'm having a problem with 5.8.3 in that, while it initially loads correctly, as soon as I hit the Put" button the app crashes on me. Using Mac OS 13.12.1

    Hi Dean,

Does it work to drag a file from the Finder to the Fetch window? Does it work if you log into your Mac as a guest?

    Thanks,

    Jim Matthews

Yes, it does work if I drag a file from Finder into the upload menu.

Yes that works, hopefully the "Put" issue will be resolved soon tho.

    Hi Dean and Okey,

You should be able to use the Put button. My best guess is that there is a conflict with another piece of software. If you login to your Mac as Guest are you able to use Put without crashing? If so, that would suggest an issue that is specific to your regular account.

    Thanks,

Thanks, but not really interested in logging out each time I want to use fetch tho. Maybe someone knows the software that fetch now seems to be in conflict with? Otherwise, just moving on to another FTP client.

    Hi Okey,

I definitely wouldn't expect you to log into a different account to use Fetch, it's just a diagnostic step that would tell you whether the conflict is specific to your account, as opposed to something computer-wide.

As for what software might create a conflict, I'd first think of any utilities that enhance the "pick a file" system dialogs, since that is the dialog that Fetch is trying to display when you use the Put button.

    Thanks,

Following up on this conversation, I can say that this phenomenon now occurs on all my devices. I have Fetch installed on two laptops and a Mac mini, and while I cannot log in as a guest user on the Mini, and I can on the laptops. And the crash does not occur as a guest user.
