    Fetch users seem to be able to connect to the server, but do receive the error "Can't open data connection" I copied the transcript log:

    ***

TYPE A 200 Type set to A. PASV 227 Entering Passive Mode (146,145,184,195,16,59) LIST -al 425 Can't open data connection.

    We've had a similar problem where users can connect but can't upload files completely, the file is uploaded but it is an "empty" file.

    Hi,

    The first thing I'd try is going to Fetch Preferences and unchecking the "Use passive mode settings" checkbox, and then reconnecting. It's in the General pane of the Preferences in Fetch 5, and in the Firewall pane of the Preferences in Fetch 4.

    If that doesn't work, could you tell us if either the Macs or the server either behind a firewall? Also what version of Fetch are you using?

    Thanks,

    The users are using both Fetch 4 and 5 and have tried with Passive Mode on and off.

    I don't know of the macs are behind a firewall, but these same macs can access other ftp sites without a problem. The server is behind a router running NAT with the proper port forwarding (20 & 21) pointing to the proper IP address. PCs have no problems at all accessing the FTP site. Also, macs using Interarchy can also use the ftp site.

    Hi,

    I'm sorry, I know you have tried these things before, but could you please ask one of the users to try connecting with the following settings:

    * Using Fetch 5
    * With the Mac OS X firewall off
    * With passive mode off (unchecked)

    And send us the full transcript from that attempt?

    That should help us narrow down the problem.

    Thanks,
