When you purchase Fetch using the eSellerate Sales Wizard inside the program (as opposed to the web store) Fetch gets the serial number from the eSellerate software and records it for you. This isn't supposed to be sneaky -- it is just supposed to save you a step :).

I was so pleased to find the Fetch Example Script that let me change from BBEdit to Tex-Edit Plus as my text editor that I registered on the spot, using the registration built in to Fetch 4.0.
I quickly got back the registration information, I copied the serial number, and was surprised when I launched Fetch to enter the serial number that it was already entered!
When did it get entered? When I was registering? By seeing what was in the clipboard? By contacting a server somewhere on launch (no, that'd be too evil!)?
I swear I didn't enter in the serial number myself!
