Fetch connects then times out trying to load the list (3 posts)

    When I connect to a ftp site, any site, it connects then says loading file list. It does that for a few minutes then I get a message saying the connection has timed out, what do I do?

    The first thing I'd try is changing the "Use passive mode transfers (PASV)" checkbox in the Firewall section of Fetch Preferences (i.e. check it if it isn't checked,uncheck it if it is). Then try opening a new connection.

    If that doesn't help I'd post the contents of the Fetch Transcript window; there may be clues there. Choose "Fetch Transcript" from the Window menu to open that window.
