Fetch could not creat folder (9 posts)

    I just downloaded Fetch to try using an Imac G5. When I try to "Get" a folder I get teh responce "Fetch could not create the folder "Welcome_to_your_account_com.files because the servor sent an unexpected responce". It then goes on to say names must containASCII letters......" I tried changing the name of the folder but still get the same message. All my other files and folders seemed to have transferred alright. Any ideas would be appreciated. I would really like to get the website up.

    PS..I used Mac's new iWeb to creat the web site

    I'm sorry, I meant to say "PUT" a file not "Get".

    Hi,

    Sorry you're having a problem with Fetch.

    We'd like some more information to help us figure out what the problem is. After you try to put the folder and you get the error message, could you please choose Fetch Transcript from the Window menu, copy the contents of the transcript window, and paste them here?

    Can you put any folder to this server? Try putting one with just letters in the name, such as "test". Also try connecting, and then clicking the New Folder button in the Fetch toolbar, and try creating a new folder named "test".

    If both of those fail, there's either a problem with the server or a problem with how your account has been set up, and you should contact Yahoo's support.

    If those succeed, you'll have to avoid putting periods and underscores in folder names, even though the server says they should be okay.

    Well I got it to work by changing the extention from".files to _files"..now I can Put all the files except when it gets to a .css files it stops and says I don't have correct permissions. Everything else downloaded excpet for the .CSS and .JS

    That sounds like a different problem from before. Sorry to ask you this again, but could you post a transcript from when you try to upload a .css and .js file?

    Hi,

    Thanks for the transcript. It looks like the server doesn't like the filename of "Loanswithliz.com.css" - perhaps it doesn't like that there are two periods in it? It may be that it is set up to only expect one period (to mark the extension) and seeing two periods makes it unhappy.

    I'd try naming it "Loanswithliz_com.css" and see if that makes the error go away.
