Hi,
I have a Retina MacBook Pro myself, so I'm very interested in seeing Fetch updated for it. We are looking into the changes we will have to make.
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

Hi,
Any updates on the Retina Display support for Fetch?

No, nothing to report. It's a big effort, so I don't expect to have anything to report for a while.

Hi there,
I would also love to see Fetch upgraded to include support for the Retina display.
ETA?
-
Jim Matthews Administrator
We're still working on it, but we won't announce an ETA until it's ready to release.
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

Hey guys,
Retina has been around for 1 year + now. What's the hold up on your supporting it? Its a real eye sore and beginning to stand out even more as a majority of other apps now support it.

Hi,
I am sorry it is taking so long. In order to avoid duplicating effort we are adding Retina support as part of other major changes, and that stretches out the timeline.
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

I've had Fetch for a while now and love it. Recently I upgraded to a MacBook Pro 15" with Retina Display. I'd love to see Fetch updated to include Retina support, even if just an incremental update. The fonts and pixelation look terrible, although I'm pretty happy with the feature set as it is now.
Thanks for the best Mac FTP client out there.

WHEN is my favorite Mac FTP client on a non retina display going to get support for retina? It looks like complete garbage on a retina display. Please, please, commit to putting the effort into getting this done. I can't imagine your having much of a success rate converting trial licenses into paid licenses once prospective buyers are greeted with a fuzzy UI.
On a separate note, please fix your software so that Fetch can't be cracked so easily. It's not fair to those of us who legitimately pay, but more importantly it impedes your ability to do any incentive based development.
Fetch is far too good to let it slide behind competing products.
Thank you for your consideration.

Thanks for the feedback. We continue to work on a future version with Retina support, and I apologize that it is taking so long.

Can I suggest you at least provide a timeline or be more transparent about your larger plans? Your vague answer leaves fleeting hope this is of any importance to you. I'm also concerned we will be charged for an upgrade that includes retina support - really, a maintenance update will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Again, I apologize. I wish I could tell you when it will be ready, but I would rather say nothing than promise a date and risk breaking that promise. I can assure you that this is of great importance to me -- Fetch is my livelihood.
Thanks,

I can't help but echo the sentiments of others who long for a retina version. I just paid $28 for it in the App store not realizing that it would look all fuzzy on my 15" retina macbook pro. I really don't want to use a fuzzy looking app and would likely leave a bad review as a warning to others.

Let me preface my comments with the fact that I've been happily using it since the mid-1990s, and have not found anything that comes close to it in terms of usability and reliability.
That said, I just upgraded to a Retina MBP and thought there was something wrong with my eyeglass prescription until I realized that it was simply the fact that Fetch turned out to be the only app I have that isn't compatible with this laptop display.
This thread is more than a year old, and Retina displays have been around for nearly two years. I realize that y'all have a relatively small operation, but, c'mon. It can't be that difficult for experienced programmers such as yourselves to upgrade the graphics and fonts for just one application.

I am sorry that I don't have better news. Updating Fetch's graphics for Retina compatibility is important to me, but we're doing it as part of a larger effort, and that effort is taking a lot of time. But we are working on it every day, and expect that you will be happy with the results.

Looking forward to your update Jim. Fetch is the best FTP client in the world for Mac. Let me know if I can help in any way.

Well. It has been 18 months since the first retina macbook came to this world. We still have no retina support for Fetch. Most of the people here are long term supporters of Fetch. But this is getting quite annoying. Do you want us to look for other FTP clients? Please tell us why we should wait at all...
I do not want to Panic you, but I might Transmit my money to some other developers.

Hi,
I am very sorry that it is taking so long. If you need Retina support today, you should definitely look at alternatives. We will keep working away.
Thanks,

Hi Jim,
I've been a long time Fetch user, and it's getting really silly to read your posts about how sorry you are that it is taking so long to support retina displays. May I ask what have you been working on in the past 20 months? This is your livelihood as you said, you're going to lose customers.
Thanks,

Hi,
We have been working on a major Fetch update. No one is sorrier than I am that it is taking so long.
Again, I apologize for the long wait.

I just upgraded to a Retina MBP and I just can't believe that Fetch is the only software I use that is not ready for Retina.
How is it going, Mr. Matthews?

Hello again,
I am the original poster of this question about Retina Display support. I have since switched to Transmit and I am very happy with that program as my FTP client. I ran into another issue with Fetch in which the new version would not take my PAID serial number that I had been using. I was very upset about this, and did not want to pay twice for the program. The serial lookup system did not recognize my registration info in the database, and would not return my Fetch serial.
I may return to using the program in the future, but for now I am switched to Transmit and very happy with this program. I only use the program for uploading to an FTP server space I pay for at a personal domain website. That is my sole reason for using the program.
Glad to hear people are still interested in Retina support for Fetch, and very surprised it hasn't been released yet.

Herbert: We're still working on it every day.
Ward: The automated serial lookup system will only work if you are still using the email address you used when you purchased Fetch. Otherwise it should direct you to a form that will come to me, and I will look up the information manually. Or you can just send me a note using http://fetchsoftworks.com/fetch/feedback .
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

Hi all,
I have prepared an experimental version of Fetch with improved support for Retina displays, and I'd like to gather feedback from some users before releasing it widely. If you have a Retina Mac and are willing to try this version, and send me feedback about what you see, please send an email message to bugs@fetchsoftworks.com .
Thanks, and my apologies again for how long this has taken.

When will Fetch be updated to take advantage of the Retina display? -- as is, the current "latest" build still has very pixellated-looking, grainy text on the Retina display. Is this enhancement a difficult one to add to the program or have the developers not thought it necessary to add the enhancements to the program?
