I have had other reports of that problem, specifically when people were using AppleScript. Are you using AppleScript?
Thanks,

YES. I am using applescript. You have to run the UNIX show "." files via applescript. Is there another way to show "." files (like .htaccess) without using the built in script that is part of Fetch?
The "." file used to show in Fetch 3.0.3 but then all of a sudden that option stopped working.

You should only have to run that script once; Fetch will remember the setting in the Fetch Prefs file.

Yes, I only ran the script once. My point is that I think it is maybe what is causing the problem? If you run that script you have to use Applescript. But maybe that pref file is what is freezing it on quit. When I throw away the pref file (with the unix command) in it, and restart Fetch, it seems to work better (meaning: i can quit the app). My question would be, Is there a fix for that?
Thanks :)

I don't think that setting would cause the freeze-on-quit problem; I think that problem is triggered by using AppleScript during a specific Fetch session. But if the problem comes back after you run the script again I may have to revise my diagnosis.

Hello,
So, I ran a little test. I tossed the prefs file that remembered the UNIX show "." files script in it. Now I can quit and launch no problem. So I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it is the script. If you run it, it works and you can see "." files, but then it freezes the machine when quitting. I understand you only have to run it once, but that pref file is a bad puppy :() and that AppleScript "show "." files" is no good for my machine. Is Applescript the only way to show "." files or can you do something from the server end that will allow Fetch to show "." files?
Thanks again.

It should be possible to configure the server to include dot files in its file lists by default. It's a matter of changing the arguments being passed to the ls program, which Unix FTP servers use to generate the file list.

hi,
i'm not sure if this was addressed already, but i have a weird problem that popped up when i use fetch 4.0.1. i am on a Mac G4 0S 9.1 and everytime I quit fetch, it freezes the cursor and gets hung up. I got it to quit fetch all right a couple of times, but then it randomly started type 1 quitting out of other apps! is it me, or have you seen this problem come up before? extension conflicts?
someone suggested to me that i throw away fetch 3 and the prefs and cache and i did that, it worked, but it is doing it again. i think if i keep throwing away the prefs and shortcuts and cache, it works. maybe the shortcuts feature is buggy? (maybe it's my machine)
thanks
