Hi, I'm running fetch 4.01 on a dual boot imac and fetch gets stuck whilst getting the file list every time in osx but works fine in os9. Does anyone have any ideas how i could solve this and use fetch in osx? thanks. David.

With reference to my new topic just posted (fetch gets stuck getting file list?) my firewall on osx is already turned off.

I've now ticked the "passive" box in my fetch preferences 'firewall" section. So does this mean I cannot use fetch at the same time a s a firewall?

If your server supports passive mode you can keep your firewall on. But if your server does not support passive mode you may have to turn off your firewall for FTP to work.

    Thanks,

thanks Jim, yes aparently, pipex, my server has "trouble" with fetch when in passive mode, they recommend active mode (which does not work for me). Strange, I can now use fetch in passive mode(as you suggest) with my firewall on and it works fine. I will have to see how it pans out over time as I've heard that this can be an intermittent fault.
p.s. I've also upgraded to fetch 4.03 and thats working (but not in active mode) many thanks.
