    Hi There,

    I can successfully log into my own FTP that I setup with vsftpd running on Fedora 11. I setup the .conf file so that I have to use a specific, non-traditional FTP port. The transcript window shows that I login successfully, but then after I am in my home directory, I see in the Fetch transcript window a problem of "Illegal PORT command." Why do anything once I am logged into my home directory. Here are the contents of my transcript window after the "230 Login successful" message:

    331 Please specify the password.
    PASS
    230 Login successful.
    SYST
    215 UNIX Type: L8
    PWD
    257 "/home/ariestav"
    PWD
    257 "/home/ariestav"
    TYPE A
    200 Switching to ASCII mode.
    PORT 192,168,1,72,255,89
    500 Illegal PORT command.
    PASV
    227 Entering Passive Mode (192,168,1,68,34,13).
    Making data connection to 75.13.93.192 port 8717
    PWD
    257 "/home/ariestav/Desktop"
    ABOR
    225 No transfer to ABOR.
    ftp_list: 2,-30000 (state == GETTING_LIST)
    Fetch could not get the file list because the FTP server sent an unexpected response. (Check the Fetch Transcript window for more information.)

    . . .I don't know why I'm gettin that abort message when trying to get the file list. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and help!

    Hi,

    Please try the following:

    * Quit Fetch.
    * Open Fetch.
    * Go to the Fetch menu, and choose Preferences.
    * Click the General tab.
    * Make sure that "Use passive mode transfers" checkbox is checked.
    * Try connecting to your server again.

    Does that fix the problem?

    If not, please send us the entire transcript from this attempt (the beginning of the transcript includes information that may be relevant), and we'll take a look.

    Thanks,

    Is there an email I can send the transcript to? I'd rather not post that information publicly.

    Thanks!
