Fetch, PureFTPd and dropped connections (1 post)

We've recently had of reports of dropped connections when using FTP with TLS/SSL and the "Enable encryption" option. We've learned that the sites in question recently upgraded to the PureFTPd 1.0.42 FTP server software. That release defaults to requiring that TLS/SSL sessions be shared between the two connections (control connection and data connection) that make up an FTP session. Fetch 5.7.5 does not share TLS/SSL sessions, and so those servers drop the data connection.

There are a couple of workarounds for this problem:

    1. You can uncheck the "Enable encryption" checkbox in the New Connection window. File lists and file contents will be transferred without encryption, but your username and password will still be protected.

    2. We have prepared an experimental Fetch version that works around this problem, as long as your Mac is running OS X 10.9 or later (10.9 Mavericks, 10.10 Yosemite or 1011 El Capitan). If you'd like to try this version please contact us at http://fetchsoftworks.com/fetch/feedback

    Thanks,
