Fetch "quits unexpectedly" on launch (5 posts)

    Fetch has worked fine for more than a year, but today I get the "quit unexpectedly" message during the launch sequence. Downloaded a trial copy and installed over the old version, with the same result.

    Fetch 5.0.5, OSX 10.2.8

    Also, why when I bought Fetch, do I always get the message that my trial version is about to expire?

    Hi,

    It's definitely not normal for Fetch to always give you a message that your trial version is about to expire if you have entered a serial number.

    Given that, and the fact that it is quitting unexpectedly on launch, the first thing I'd suggest doing is removing your Fetch preferences; they may have become corrupt.

    Try doing the following:

    * Choose "Home" from the Go menu in the Finder
    * Open the Library folder
    * Open the Preferences folder
    * Find the com.fetchsoftworks.Fetch.plist, Fetch Prefs, and Fetch Cache files, and move them to the Desktop. (You may not have all three of these files, and that's okay.)

    Then try to run Fetch. Does that fix the problem? Let us know. If not, we will investigate further.

    Thanks,

    Thank you for the reply, Scott. I did as you suggested, and removed the preferences files. However, Fetch still will not launch and I'm still getting the "quit unexpectedly" message when it tries to start up. I downloaded 5.0.5 again, restarted, etc. but the same thing keeps happening.

    Hi,

    Okay, the next step is for you to mail a crash log to us, which should tell us why Fetch is quitting unexpectedly.

    I believe these instructions below apply to 10.2.8; I don't have a 10.2.8 machine handy to verify them against though.

    To find the Fetch.crash.log file:

    * Choose "Home" from the Go menu in the Finder
    * Open the Library folder
    * Open the Logs folder
    * Open the CrashReporter folder
    * Find the file named "Fetch.crash.log".

    Please email it to:

    bugs at fetchsoftworks dot com

    along with a short description of the problem and we'll take a look.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

    Thanks, we received the crash log and I've asked one of my colleagues to take a look at it. We'll let you know what we find or if we need additional information.

    Thanks for your patience,
