I have a DSL connection, Mac OS 10.1. Since installing a SMC broadband router (SMC7004VBR) my fetch up/downloads from other ftp sites are much slower.
With downloads in browsers I have the regular speed.
I disabled firewalls, I´m using a PPPoE connection from the router to my provider (T-Online, Germany)
Does anyone knows how to configure fetch (or the router) to get the same speed like when connection directly to the DSL modem?

    thanx,
    Ralf

Have you asked SMC? Do you see the same problem with other FTP clients?

My one guess is that the router may be adjusting the MTU (maximum transmission unit), and that can hurt performance, but I don't know why it wouldn't also affect web downloads.

    Thanks,
