fetch stalls on upload (9 posts)

    I am uploading a file of web jpegs and html files by dragging the file into the fetch window which I am connected to. The files download and I time random file transfers and they are similar. Fetch then just randomly stalls out on a file. I stop.... select that file which stalled and remaining files.....drag them to same fetch window and the download begins just fine. Several files later it does it again? It could do it after 20 files or after 60 files no pattern. any ideas? Mac OS 10.2.6

    I'm having a similar problem. Trying to upload a folder of AIF files from a Pro Tools session using Fetch 4.0.3 on Mac OS 10.2. Many files upload OK, but after a while the upload fails and I get a 'command unrecognized' error. Gotta quit Fetch, log in again, and start downloading files beginning with the one that failed. Appreciate your suggestions, Jim...

    partners: I'd be interested in seeing the contents of the Fetch Transcript window after you see this problem. Choose "Fetch Transcript" from the Window menu to open the transcript window.

    How do I get that Fetch Transcript to you? Sorry I'm new to this.

    When Fetch stalls, choose "Fetch Transcript" from the Windows menu (it's between the Customize menu and the Help menu in the menu bar). Then choose Select All from the Edit menu to select all the text in the transcript, and Copy from the Edit menu to copy it to the clipboard. Then switch back to your browser and choose Paste from the Edit menu to paste the transcript into your reply.

    Jim I hope this is right.....it got to image CRW 5697 and just stopped uploading the dog was still running. I am uploading a photoshop web gallery approx 2.9 MB . If I stop and reconnect and up load from CRW 5697> it gets stuck maybe 3-6 minutes later no pattern. I am on a satellite connection with starband Thanks eric

    I don't see a pattern there either. It may be a timing issue that only causes a problem every once in a while. You might try using the Mirror Folder command in the remote menu; it uploads all the files in a folder that have changed or are new. That way when a transfer fails part-way through you can issue the command again to upload just the files that didn't make it the first time. Obviously it would be better to have the transfer succeed on the first try, but I can't think of a suggestion that would help with that.

    Could it be that I'm loosing the connection or that something within the network is causing a problem. Would that show up in the transcript? Thanks for your suggestion. eric

    The transcript shows Fetch sending a command and not getting a response. That could be because the connection was dropped.
