File Uploads Sometimes Stall (3 posts)

  When uploading a file using the new version of Fetch (v5.0.4), the file transfer seems to stall 1/4 of the way through. It happened the other day and then again last night on two different Macs (both G5s, OS X Tiger); however, the same file uploaded fine from a third Mac, a G4 (OS X Tiger) using the same version of Fetch.

  Any ideas?

  Hi,

  We'd like some more information to help diagnose the problem.

  Is the Mac that the file uploads fine with on the same network as the other two Macs? That might explain the difference.

  Does the same file stall every time you try to upload it on the "problem" Macs? Is it a large file? Do other files transfer okay?

  On the Macs where the upload stalls, try checking the "Contact servers during long transfers" option in the Obscure pane of the Preferences, and let us know if that helps.

  In answer to your questions: Yes, the two G5s that experienced the upload problem are on the same network as the G4 and, yes, the file stalled each time they attempted to upload it. It wasn't that big a file (9.3 MB). The operator has only had to upload two files lately and both gave him the same problem.

  As for your suggestion, we will try changing that setting and see how it goes.
