Files not displaying after uploading (4 posts)

I have a webpage with jpeg images on it. These are changed quarterly, last time there were no problems. This time, the files seem to upload ok, but although the index page is displayed, the jpeg images are missing. The file and jpegs on the computer display correctly when I open them in Safari, it is only after uploading that they cannot be seen when using Safari to view the website. I have looked at the folder info and the Read and Execute boxes are ticked, I have also tried the same for the jpeg files, but nothing changes. I have emptied the caches with no change.

    Hi,

The most common explanation for this problem is that the images were uploaded to the wrong folder on the server. The next most common explanation is that the HTML references to the images are incorrect. I would check those two possibilities.

    Thanks,

    Hi Jim

    Thanks for the reply.

The images are uploaded to the same folder as the index page: the software I use, OpenOffice, struggles if I have them anywhere else; the same as I do in my old age too, so it keeps things simple for me.

I will re-check the html references.

    Hi Jim

The references all looked OK, they referred to the jpegs in this folder, but the original folder on the computer was copied from a different one containing the same images. When I uploaded THAT folder to its correct place on the website Lo!!! the images appeared where they should be on THIS page. ???

I am just glad I used to be an electrical power engineer, and not a software one.
