Hi,
If that's all that appears in the Fetch Transcript window that means that the server is dropping the connection right after the connection is established.
You could ask the user to run Terminal (found in the Utilities folder) and type
ftp hostname
Do they get an error then as well?
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

Hi Brian,
We'd like to see a transcript from you, just in case it includes some information that can help us figure out what's going on.
Can you please do the following?
* Quit Fetch.
* Open Fetch again.
* Try connecting to your server.
* If you connect successfully, try uploading.
* After you receive the "dropped connection" message, go to the Window menu, and choose Fetch Transcript.
* Copy the entire contents of the transcript window, and paste them into a reply to this message.Thanks,
Scott McGuire

Hi Brian,
Thanks for the transcript. These sorts of errors are usually the results of problems with either the server or your network.
Does the upload always fail on the first file?
I see that you're using Fetch 5.3.1. Could you give our latest version, Fetch 5.5, a try and see if fixes the problem? It includes numerous improvements to try to work around problems like these, if it's possible for Fetch to work around them.
Fetch 5.5 would not be a free upgrade for you (it would be $10), however, you can try it for 15 days without charge, and we'd be interesting in knowing if it works better for you. You can download it from our homepage at http://fetchsoftworks.com . (You can install it in a different folder to avoid replacing your current version of Fetch.)
Please let us know how it goes; if it doesn't work, could you please post another transcript?
Thanks,
Scott McGuire

Edit: my client emailed me shortly after and stated that it was working

I have a client who cannot login to our FTP Server using Fetch. I am able to login using the username and password with a Windows based FTP program as well as ftp in the DOS prompt. I had the client make sure that PASSIVE mode is disabled. There is a log from Fetch.
