I'm looking for guidance on improving performance of transferring large uncompressed qt files between my G4 and SGI Octane. These files are 10GB to 50 GB I'm connected via the G4 built-in Gigabit, and the SGI PCI-GIGENET-C card in the Octane.

Using Fetch, I notice only about a 30% impovement over 100BT performance. One thing I notice, every so often, Fetch's dog parks for a while, then starts running again. I'm guessing that I'm seeing some sort of cache being purged, or filled before proceeding further with the transfer.

Is there any preferences where I can make changes to improve the performance of Fetch with these large files?

    Thanks, Bill

No, not currently. However I plan to address performance over high speed links in the next major release (early next year).
