Hi,
No, Fetch cannot compress files on the server before downloading them.
You might be able to log into the server using something like ssh, and use the command line on the server to compress the files, and then download them Fetch - but Fetch cannot ask the server to compress the files since that's not part of the FTP or SFTP language.
Thanks,

It's been 11 years… is it still impossible for Fetch to compress and unpack files? Do we really have to use other ftp clients (Zilla or Cyberduck) to be able to compress or unpack files online?

Hi Orano,
That is correct, Fetch does not include support for compressing or unpacking files on the server.
Thanks,

Hello,
Is there a way that Fetch will compress a folder or file for me? It doesn't really matter the compression, just will it do it on the server?
thanks,
