HELP!!! Server disconnect during upload (11 posts)

Hi,
From the transcript, it looks like the disconnects are most likely a problem with the server you are uploading to; it could also be an issue with your router.
You should make sure that the server isn't just running out of space; some servers disconnect when they run out of space in the middle of an upload.
The next time a transfer fails, try using Fetch's resume upload feature to continue the upload from where it left off. You can find out more about it in the resuming uploads topic in Fetch Help (or click the link here).
If the resume upload fails right away, either the server doesn't support it, or the server is out of space.
Sorry, this is the best advice I have to offer at the moment. You could also try a different FTP client, such as Interarchy; if you find that it uploads without interruption to the server when Fetch will not, please let us know so that we can try to find the problem and fix Fetch.

What could be the problem with the router?For reasons that are not always clear, some routers decide to drop connections while transfers in progress. The only way to test and see if the router is causing problems is to connect your Mac directly to your cable or DSL modem.
However, since the server is giving an error message when the transfer stops, it seems much more likely that the problem is on the server.

The resume upload feature works with my file so that was good news.

I have downloaded Interarchy and had no problem with it to upload my files…

Hi,
It's good to hear that resume upload worked.
Since resume upload worked and Interarchy worked too, it sounds like the problem with the server may have been fixed (or it was a temporary problem that went away on its own). I don't think you need to bother with disconnecting the router at this point.
You'll most likely find that Fetch works the next time you upload, too.

What's weird is that I get disconnect messages with Fetch like every 40 minutes but only after 8 hours with Interarchy - which is the normal timeout sets on the server.

I have tried again to upload, at the same time, a file with interarchy and another one with fetch:
- fetch disconnect regulary
- interarchy doesen't disconnect at all?

Here is the suggestion I received from the server guys:
"Interarchy is probably do other things like refreshing the directory list on a periodic basis. this acts like a keep alive signal and may keep you connected longer."Thanks to let me know what you think.

Hi,
Thanks for the additional information. Fetch 5.2 does not have a "keep alive" feature similar to what your server suggests; we are not sure if Interarchy does or not.
We don't have any more suggestions for you to try right now, sorry. But we'll keep your information in mind as we work on improving Fetch.

I just bought and use fetch on a mac.
I have deconnection messages about every 30 minutes while uploading, so I can't upload any of my stuff…
