It sounds like you have the "Don't make Open Transport calls" option checked in the Misc. section of Preferences -- if that's the case, what's the error number when you uncheck it?
"Too many TCP connections" is a vague MacTCP error code that usually means that there's a problem with the configuration of the MacTCP or Open Transport control panels, or with your connection to the net.

Sorry this took so long to get back to you.
This is on a Mac Powerbook that is in the feild. By the way like i sead it is a powerbook 1400cs/133 running OS 7.6.1
OK i unchecked the "dont make open transport calls" and now i get a error number -3212.
I do not have this trouble with reg. desktops
just laptops.
