Help>>I lost my Alias (4 posts)

    When I login into my domain (using Fetch), the alias mainwebsite_html has disappeared! I have no idea why - one minute there, the next gone!!
    I can still access my site files via Recent> menu but would be handy to have my Alias back.

    I couldn't find anything in Help on creating Alias.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks

    Hi Nicky,

    Just to be clear, this is a folder that used to appear in the Fetch file list after you connected to your server, is that correct?

    I wonder if it's possible that you are simple in a different folder than you expect, and your alias is still there. What happens if you do the following:

    * Open Fetch.
    * Connect to your server.
    * Go to the "Go" menu, and choose "Parent Folder".

    Do you see your alias if you do that?

    Thanks,

    Hi Nicky,

    There's no way to create new aliases on the server with Fetch, sorry. You can create new folders, but not new aliases.

    Either you need to log into the server using a command-line tool like ssh or telnet and re-create the alias with the command-line, or contact the folks who run the server and ask them to recreate the alias for you (or instructions on how you might recreate it yourself using other tools).

    Thanks,
