Hi,
You could try using Fetch 4.0.3, which you can download from http://fetchsoftworks.com/downloads.html . It's less picky than Fetch 5 about the contents of hostnames.
However, you should double-check, if you haven't already, that the hostname is meant to have backslashes in it. A FTP/SFTP hostname should never have backslashes in it, that's a violation of the Interent hostname specifications and may have compatibility problems beyond Fetch. Fetch 5 doesn't accept backslashes because trying to enter them in the hostname field is pretty much always an error.
Could you tell us what format the hostname takes, that is, where the backslashes appear in it? It's possible that the backslashes are actualy part of a Windows path, and you may need an Windows NT file sharing client instead of an FTP client.
Let us know if this helps.
Thanks,
Scott McGuire

Hi Evan,
Could you please tell us what error message you are getting, and when you get it?
Also, after you try to connect or upload, could you please choose Fetch Transcript from the Window menu, copy the contents of the transcript window, and paste them here? We'll take a look and try to figure out what's going on.
Thanks,
Scott McGuire

I'm on a Mac. A co-worker of mine is on a PC. He's placed the source files for my company's website on a server and given me the hostname, user name and password so that I may connect and access the files.
However, the hostname he has given me contains back slashes and every time I try and put it in, I get an error message saying, basically, that Fetch doesn't recognize back slashes in a hostname.
While I've tried a few other ways in, I can't gain access without using the specified hostname.
Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong?
Or what I should do?
Thx.
