How to CHMOD to 755? (2 posts)

    Hi!

My host recently suspended my site and when they let me gain access to it, they said the reason they suspended it was that a folder has a bunch of phishing pages hosted.

They have "chmodded sinister-attraction to 000, so please resolve this issue as soon as possible and then change mod to 755." is what they said.

Problem is, right now I cannot view the files in the folder since it's CHMODed to 000, and I don't know how to change it to 755 using Fetch (which is a fairly new program for me...I'm used to WS_FTP pro)

Should I be able to access a folder that is CHMODded to 000? And if not, how do I go about changing it to 755 so I can go in and delete those pages?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

No, you would not be able to view or access the contents of a folder that has had its permissions set to 000.

However, since you are the owner of the folder, you should be able to change its permissions back to 755, and then you will be able to see inside of it again. If you cannot do that, you'll need to contact the host for assistance.

For instructions on how to set permissions (CHMOD) using Fetch, please see the Viewing and setting permissions topic in Fetch Help (or just click the link here).

Please let us know if you have further questions.

    Thanks,
