I haven't a clue what is meant by Host Name. I need to send files to a book printer. Please, some simple guidelines.

    Hi,

When you want to transfer files to someone using Fetch, the person or organization must be running a server (another computer) that receives the files; Fetch connects to that server over the Internet and then you can upload the files to it. Fetch connects to these servers using a method called "FTP" or sometimes "SFTP."

Each server has an Internet address - just like websites have addresses - and it's that address that you put in the hostname field. Usually servers also require that you enter a username and password, in order to prove that you have been authorized to send files to it. So the hostname, username, and password are what you need in order to connect to a server.

You should contact the book printer and ask them if they have FTP server for you to upload files to, and if so, what hostname, username, and password you need to use to connect to it. Then enter the information they've given you in the Fetch New Connection dialog.

I hope this clarifies things. Please let us know if you have further questions.

    Thanks,

    Scott McGuire
