    Hello,

I have been trying Fetch (version 5.1.1) on my MacBook Pro (Mac OSX Version 10.4.8) to upload files to the FTP site for my company's web page. The only problem that I have been having, and I am still in the Trial Period for the program, is that when I attempt to drag and drop an ".htaccess" file from my email to my desktop on my Mac, it says the file will be hidden. I need this file to be part of the link page so that I can access the page without a password for my customers.

Is there some advice you can offer for this problem?

    Sincerely,
    Scott

    Hi Scott,

The Mac OS X Finder will not show any files starting with a period, which is why you are being warned when you drag the .htaccess file from your email program to the Finder. The file will not show up in files lists in the Finder, but it is still there. Unfortunately, there is no simple way to make the Finder show you files starting with a period.

Fetch, however, can show the hidden files to you when you use the Put command.

So I would do the following:

    * Either create a folder in the Finder to hold the .htaccess file, or decide to put it in the folder with your other webpage files.
    * Drag the .htaccess file to that folder.
    * Connect to your site with Fetch, and go to the remotoe folder where you want to upload the .htaccess file.
    * Click the Put button in the Fetch toolbar.
    * In the dialog that appears, click the "Show hidden files" checkbox. The dialog will hide and reappear.
    * In the Put dialog, navigate to the folder where you placed the .htaccess file. Fetch should it in the file list.
    * Select the file, and click the Put button to upload it.

You only need to check the "Show hidden files" once, from then on Fetch will always show you hidden files until you uncheck the box again.

Let us know if this doesn't help. Thanks,
