I used Fetch sucessfully to upload images recently but this new set, which are bigger in size but not by much (from 12 mpegs to 23), is taking around 30 minutes per images.

    Whats up!

    Hi,

The images are nearly double in size than they were before. How long did a 12 MB file take to upload?

What is Fetch reporting as your transfer speed after a few minutes of transferring the larger images?

Upload speed can depend on a lot of issues - the server may have been busier when you tried to upload, or your network connection (which may be shared with other users) may have been busier too. Do the images take 30 minutes if you try to upload them at another time of day?

    Thanks,

    Thanks for gettingback to me.

The 12 mb files took about 2 minutes. I do not know where to find the "transfer speed". Where is that shown?

This is the same time of the day as previous uploads. I am new to FTP work. If these are normal times I am cool with it but it seems quite long.

    Hi,

30 minutes for a 23 MB file does sound a bit much, especially if 12 MB files only took 2 minutes. On a typical cable modem or DSL connection (I do not know what you are using), I would expect one to take at least 10-15 minutes to transfer, however.

When you are transfering a file, the Fetch status information (at the bottom of the transfer window in Fetch 5, or on the righthand side of the transfer window in Fetch 4) will say how many KB/s the transfer is taking - that's "kilobits per second." That's what I meant by transfer speed.

The next time you try to upload and it takes forever, could you please choose Fetch Transcript from the Window menu, copy the contents of the transcript window, and paste them here? That might provide some insight into what's going on, we'll take a look and see if we can figure it on.

    Thanks,
