  Hi,

  I'm new to this whole website creation thing. I'm creating my wedding website in iWeb and I got my domain from Dreamweaver.

  I've followed all your instructions for using Fetch with iWeb, and Dreamweaver's instructions as well. But even after I have uploaded all my iWeb files to the root (including the 'index.html' and *not* including the folder iWeb created) but when I click WebView on the index file, I get this error message:

  "Not Found

  The requested URL /index.html was not found on this server.

  Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

  What do I do now?

  Hi Caroline,

  It's possible that you've configured WebView incorrectly (so that it is looking in the wrong place for your webpage), so let's first try to figure out if your website is loaded correctly, and then we can come back to WebView.

  What happens if type the address of your website into your web browser? Do you get an error when you do that too?

  Hi Caroline,

  Are any files listed in the listing for the directory when you go to your domain name?

  My best guess is that the files have been uploaded to the wrong location, although there are other possible causes. If you could do the following, I'll try to figure out where they are and maybe where they should be, or if the problem lies elsewhere:

  * Quit Fetch.
  * Open Fetch again.
  * Connect to your server.
  * Go to the View menu, and choose Refresh.
  * Go to the Window menu, and choose Fetch Transcript.
  * Copy the entire contents of the transcript window, and paste them into a reply to this message.

  Hi Caroline,

  Thanks for the transcript.

  It looks to me like you've uploaded everything correctly, since there is an index.html file in your root folder; but since your website isn't showing up despite that, I did a little investigation.

  From looking at the DreamHost help pages, I suspect the problem is that the files have been uploaded to the wrong place.

  When you connect to your server with Fetch, are you entering anything in the "initial path" field? If not, that's the problem.

  Before connecting, you need to click on the disclosure button (the blue square with a triangle in it in the lower left of the New Connection dialog), and then enter your domain name in the "Initial path" field as well as the Hostname field. Then upload your files to that new location.

  I believe this will fix the problem.

  Please let me know if it works or not.

  I got an error message that says:

  Fetch could not open the folder "carolineandryan.net"because the FTP server says that the requested item was not a folder or could not be accessed.

  If you entered a folder name or URL, check that it is correct. Server responded "carolineandryan.net: No such file or directory."

  Sorry to hear that didn't work. My best guess at this point is that something is misconfigured in your account on the server. I recommend that you contact DreamHost's support and see if they can tell you figure out why your website isn't working.
