Now everything seems to work. Have no idea why it wasn't before. So, for the moment, I'm okay. Thanks.

I am brand new to this forum and think I posted the following question in the wrong place. If this is a duplicate, sorry. After dozens of times with fetch working, all of a sudden can't get changes to website to upload. I had been using the mirror feature...opened fetch, then mirrored using the folder where I saved the site. Early yesterday, it worked fine. But then I made a change and deleted a page. Saved that to a brand new folder. The folder has all the html and folders for each page okay. But, after trying many times using mirror and then not using mirror but using put, the site online still has the page that was deleted. I am baffled. A few minutes ago, it seemed to upload and then stopped saying transfer of html index complete. I watched the entire upload and it did not contain Test page which is the page that was deleted but is still on the website online. Thanks.

    Hi Ellen,

Just to double-check - you are all set now, and everything is working? If you are still having problems, let us know.

What may have happened is that your web browser was caching the deleted page, making it appear that it was still there when it wasn't, and eventually the browser realized the page was no longer on the server. (Browsers keep a local copy of recently accessed webpages so they can be displayed quickly, and while the cache is supposed to notice and update when the webpage has actually changed, sometimes it makes mistakes.)

    Thanks,

Thanks for responding. When I first had an issue and couldn't figure it out, I finally cleared the cache and that worked. I should have tried that in the first place and saved lots of frustration. But, in the process of trying different things before I cleared the cache, I had created a test page in the website. Then, I kept trying to get that page gone. I kept uploading the site without the test page and it kept appearing. So called GoDaddy and they said I had to delete the page at GoDaddy and they walked me through how to do that. In about two hours, the test page was gone. Am writing all this in case my experience can help anyone else. Thanks again.

    Hi Ellen,

Okay, I think I understand what the problem was.

When you are using the mirror feature, it does not remove files that you have deleted unless you check the "Delete stray items at destination" checkbox in the Mirror window. Otherwise, it will update existing files, and add new files, but leave deleted files in place on the server.

"Delete stray items at destination" is not checked by default because it can be dangerous, since it can delete entire folders and their contents if you make a mistake; leaving the deleted files around is safer and usually doesn't interfere with anything. But there are situations where it can be not what you wanted, and potentially confusing.

You can also delete files on the server manually using Fetch; perhaps that's what GoDaddy told you how to do.

Please let us know if you have further questions.

    Thanks,
