Hi,
There are no serious known issues with Fetch 5.2.1 on Leoaprd that we are aware of. There are a few minor cosmetic glitches.
We plan to release a free update to Fetch in the near future with new support for Leopard features and technologies.
But if you do run into any problems with Fetch 5.2.1 on Leopard, please let us know.
Thanks,
Scott McGuire

In Leopard, I am having an issue with the Edit (Command-J) command trying to open a file in BBEdit. It appears to download the file and switches to BBEdit application, but the file never opens. Is anyone else having this issue? Any fix or ideas?
Thanks!

Hi jstrope,
We have tested editing with Fetch and BBEdit on Leopard, and in our testing we did not uncover any problems.
Could you please tell us which version of Fetch you have, which version of BBEdit you have, and what model Macintosh you are using, so that we can investigate further?
Thanks very much,
Scott McGuire

Hi Scott,
I am using Fetch 5.2.1 and BBEdit 7.1 on a PowerBook G4 1.67 with 1.5 GB RAM. Let me know if you have any suggestions. I was able to change editors to TextMate and files open correctly, so it may be an issue with interacting with BBEdit 7.1. I'd get the BBEdit upgrade if I knew that would fix it.
Thanks,
John

Hi John,
Thanks for the info.
I have tested, and I do see the problem you describe when using BBEdit 7.1 with Fetch on a PowerBook G4 1.67.
However, I can confirm that editing with BBEdit 8.7.1 and Fetch works correctly on the same machine.
So I'm sorry, but we're not going to try to track down the problem with BBEdit 7.1, since it's several years old and the problem is probably an incompability between it and Leopard.
You can try BBEdit 8.7 in demo mode for 30 days, so you could download it and make sure it works properly with Fetch before deciding whether to upgrade or not. (However, when BBEdit is in demo mode, you need to run BBEdit first and dismiss the demo dialog before using Edit in Fetch, otherwise Fetch will get confused - but with the paid version of BBEdit 8.7 you do not need to run BBEdit first, because there is no startup dialog.)
If you run into a problem when you try out BBEdit 8.7.1, let us know.
Other options would be to try the free TextWrangler 2.2.1 from BareBones, or stick with TextMate.
Please let us know if you have further questions.
Thanks,
Scott McGuire

I am having an issue. Every time I start Fetch I get a Boolean error, nothing downloads and there are no icons visible for the files on my server. Im also getting a Mac Error 50 when I try to delete anything on the server. I have also lost several of my favorites in the pull down menu.
(Im running Leopard on a MacBook Pro 2.4)

Hi freestate,
Do you have Preferences syncing turned on in the .Mac system preferences? That can cause the Boolean error on startup.
Please send an email to:

for further assistance.

Thanks Scott,
I guess that will be my excuse for finally upgrading BBEdit. I've been delaying, but there is probably a feature or two in the new version that I could use anyway. And as long as it works with Fetch, I'll be happy.
Thanks again.

Hi John,
You're welcome. As I said, do give the demo of BBEdit 8.7 a try first, just to be sure it fixes the problem on your machine - but I'm fairly certain it will.
Best,
Scott McGuire
