Every time I FTP a PHP file from my server and open it in BBEdit, line breaks are inserted after every line, totally screwing up the file. Can someone let me know how to set my preferences to make sure this doesn't happen?

I should also note, I'm FTPing from a UNIX server, and I have already tried setting the mode to binary. Still no dice.

If you download it in Binary mode and BBEdit shows it with blank lines, that's how the file is on the server. No translation happens during binary downloads.

You can do a search/replace in BBEdit to get rid of the blank lines, and then upload the result in Text format; that should correct the problem.

    Thanks,
