We have a small ftp site for our clients and recently have had problems with new users who have newer machines not being able to get or put files.

After reading some posts here, I seem to be detecting a constant thread that Fetch 4.0.2 won't get a file list after signing on to a ftp site if their Mac OS is 9.2 or later.

Is this known to be true? I'm believing that it is true because Fetch 4.0.2 under Mac OS 8.6 works just fine as does Fetch 3.0.3 (which always has).

Incidentally, none of my latest complaints were from AOL users. Both were using ISPs in the Dallas, TX area.

I would appreciate any definite answer anyone may be able to give.

    Thanks,

    George

I don't think there's a connection with Mac OS 9.2; that's one of the most common OS versions used with Fetch, and I don't see more problems with 9.2 than with other OS versions.

I would recommend having these users toggle the "Use passive mode transfers (PASV)" checkbox in the Firewall section of Preferences. If that does not work they should email the contents of the Transcript window to support@fetchsoftworks.com.

    Thanks,

You are right. I did some more testing yesterday and the Mac OS version is not an issue.

My two problem clients turned off PASV and are now able to connect just fine.

    Thanks,

    George
