Missing File Icons (5 posts)

Sometimes when I connect to a site, the file list shows folder icons, but the file icons are missing -- just blank spaces. If I quit fetch and then reconnect the icons are usually back. This does not cause any functional problems; the file transfers work as expected, but it is a tad disconcerting. I am running Fetch 5.7.5 on Mac OS X 10.11.2. Is there any wisdom available on this topic?

It sounds like a glitch in the system Fetch uses to get file icons from OS X. I have not seen this myself, but I'm still running 10.11.1. I will upgrade to 10.11.2 and see what I observe.

    Thanks for reporting this,

Thanks. It is a recent phenomenon, so being related to the 10.11.2 update makes sense.

Thanks for Fetch. I have been a loyal user since the beginning.

    Hi,

I'm not seeing this problem on 10.11.2, but I have two other reports of it. In the case that I have looked at most closely OS X is returning an error when Fetch tries to create a temporary folder. It isn't clear why that is happening -- OS X should always be able to create a temporary folder.

I'll continue to investigate. In the meantime, quitting and re-opening Fetch may provide a temporary solution.

    Thanks,

    Hi Tom,

I've prepared an experimental build of Fetch that attempts to work around this problem. If you're willing to give it a try could you contact me at http://fetchsoftworks.com/fetch/feedback ?

Also, I have a question: Do you run any third party "cleanup" utility software, e.g. software meant to reclaim wasted disk space? I'm wondering if an interaction with such software might explain the source of this problem.

    Thanks,
