I have just downloaded a new fetch for use with tiger and when I connect I can't see my file list.

I know its all there as I checked in my online admin boards with my host but only one folder and one file shos up at each directory level so how can I access my other folders and files.

I haven't purchased a serial number as yet and will once I am sure it works fine. My old veriosn of fetch for OS 9 has stopped working at all so I really need this to work ASAP

    Help!

    Hi,

We're sorry you're having a problem. We'd like some more information to help us analyze the problem.

If you connect to ftp.fetchsoftworks.com (no username or password required), can you see the file list?

Could you please connect to your server, then choose Fetch Transcript from the Window menu, copy the contents, and paste them here?

    Thanks,

    Scott McGuire

I had this same problem myself today, where I could connect but not see the files list, even after doing a refresh. I finally resolved the problem by connecting using the IP address for hostname rather than the site name.

The host company said it may have been due to the cache. Is there a way to clear Fetch's cache to keep this from happening again? Using v. 5.0.4.

You can click the Refresh button (or choose Refresh file list from the Directories menu if you are running Fetch 4) to have Fetch ignore the cached file list for the current folder. To have Fetch always ignore the cache check the "Ignore file list cache" checkbox in the Miscellaneous section of Preferences.

    Thanks,

    Joe,

It sounds l ike you have an early version of Fetch 4. You can download Fetch 4.0.3, a free upgrade, from the Fetch Softworks download page: http://www.fetchsoftworks.com/downloads.html .

Fetch 4.0.3 has the "Ignore file list cache" preference in the Misc pane of the Preferences.

Let us know if that does not fix the problem.

    Thanks,

Thanks for the help. I don't don't think it is a problem with my Fetch program because I have two websites and I am able to get my list and upload to one with no problem. When I work on my other site I have a problem. I did down load the update and but it didn't help.

    Hi Joe,

Here are two more things you can try.

Assuming you are on Mac OS X: Quit Fetch, go to your Home folder in the Finder, open the Library folder, open the Preferences folder, and remove the "Fetch Cache" file. (Leave the other files whose name begin with "Fetch" alone.) Now start Fetch and try connecting to the problem site again.

Again, if you are on Mac OS X, download Fetch 5 (you can try it free for 15 days) and give it a try with the problem website. After you connect with Fetch 5, if you still don't see the file list, click the Refresh button. If you still don't see the file list, let us know.

    Thanks,

    Hi again,
I am using mac os 8.5.1.
I did delete the cache program from my system folder but still no luck. And like brfore the list does come up for one of my sites but not the other.
    Joe
PS I do know I need a new system. So I could get the latest versions of my programs but I don't know why, all of a sudden this does not work. Could my site have been hacked?

    Hi Joe,

Sorry to keep asking you questions, but could you please connect to the problem server, then choose Fetch Transcript from the Window menu, copy the contents, and paste them here? That will help us figure out why the file list isn't showing up.

It's unlikely your site has been hacked. A more likely possibility is that the server's software or configuration has changed in some way by the people in charge of it.

    Thanks,
