We need to FTP through Bordermanger 3.0. Anyone under the Proxy settings (like the type etc.) & login strings necessary? I believe we have authentication off.

Any thoughts? I'm a bit lost in the Novell world.

Are there other users FTPing through the proxy with Windows FTP clients? If so, how are they configured?

    Thanks,

Thanks for the reply, Jim. Yes there are a few. They are using DOS of all things. They type in a string with the Novell user ID then the command line type of login. They are also logged in through the Novell Client with Novell Client Trust running that passes them through the security bit of the Bordermanager. The Mac must login to the Boardermanager then make the request (http, ftp etc.). I have entered these strings (eg. userFW$ftp.address.com) with no luck. I have tried SO many possible configs my head is loopy.

    Hope this helps!

    Why don't you try this:

    1) Set the Proxy Type pop-up menu in the Firewall section of Fetch Preferences to "None".

    2) Put the name or IP address of the BorderManager machine in the Host field of the New Connection window.

    3) Put userid$hostname in the User ID field, where hostname is the name of the FTP server you want to connect to, and userid is the name of your account on that server (for example you would enter anonymous$ftp.fetchsoftworks.com to user our anonymous ftp server).

    4) Put your password in the Password field.

If that does not work could you post the contents of the Fetch Transcript window (it's listed in the Window menu) after you see a problem?

    Thanks,

    Hi Jim-

Here's what I found. After using your settings & login info, here's the report:

    Fetch 4.0.2 System 0x1026 Serial FETCHFL001-HGBC-802F TR
    Connecting to 150.100.0.215 port 21 (5/15/03 10:49:02 AM)
    220 Service Ready
    ADAT

After that, the little doggie just keeps running. No connection or time out error. I left it running for about half an hour.

    Weird.

Try choosing "Don't send ADAT probe command" from the Obscure Options menu in the Misc section of Preferences. Does it get further?

    Thanks,

    Jim-

You nailed it! It works like a champ! The only thing that I see that's a bit strange is that I can't drag & drop files into the window but I'll continue to work on that one.

Thanks SO much for your help. Top notch support.
