It sounds like Fetch is downloading the files in binary mode, rather than text mode. You can fix this by choosing "Text" from the Mode pop-up menu or adding suffix mappings that identify these files as text files.

As of yesterday afternoon Fetch has started downloading plain text files with double spacing and a 'null' character x00 at the start of every line. I presume this is some kind of line break conversion glitch? If I download the file to a Finder folder and open it with BBEdit/show invis I see the double-spacing and nulls. If I cmd-J (open with BBEdit) the file is fine - no nulls, normal spacing.
What gives?
John.
