I am trying to move a large number of binary files in multiple directories to a Unix host.

It chugs along fine for a while (a few directories and a few GB) and then stops with Open Transport Error -3155.

    The Apple Knowledge Base says

"kOTOutStateErr, -3155, The function was issued in the wrong sequence."

which is not very informative (to me).

Does anyone know how to correct this problem?

    Thanks, Ken

The transcript shows the PORT command being used instead of PASV, so I would recommend double-checking that "Use passive mode transfers (PASV)" is checked. Unchecking "Use Internet Config" in the General section of Preferences will let this setting stick on Mac OS X.
