Have you tried checking (or unchecking) the "Use passive mode transfers (PASV)" box in the Firewall section of Preferences?
Thanks,

Thanks for the reply, Jim. The problem was sorted when I looked further into my TCP/IP settings on the Mac. Once I told it to use the PC as a DHCP server, everything was fine. "Use passive mode transfers (PASV)" was already checked.
Thanks for your help.

I'm trying to use Fetch to transfer files between my iMac and a PC running an FTP server on the same network. I've configured TCP/IP on the iMac to use Ethernet, but when I try to make a new connection to the PC, I get th eabove error. I've read other posts, and have unchecked "Use Internet Config", and still I suffer the same problem. Another FTP client running on another PC on the network has no trouble connecting to my FTP server using the same login info, so I'm pretty sure there's no problem with the server.
I'm using MacOS 9.1 by the way.
