    Sometimes, I get the following message:

    OprnTransportError:A Bad address was specified

    Here is the transcript when this occurs:

    MACB ENABLE
    500 'MACB ENABLE': command not understood.
    PWD
    257 "/patdmcchesney" is current directory.
    PWD
    257 "/patdmcchesney" is current directory.

    200 PORT command successful.

    Somtimes, I don't get the error message and everything works fine. Here is the transcript when it works clicking exactly the same buttons in Fetch 4.0.1:

    PORT 192,168,0,3,4,57
    200 PORT command successful.
    STOR Fetchable_1.jpg
    150 Opening BINARY mode data connection for Fetchable_1.jpg.
    226 Transfer complete.
    Upload complete at 10/1/01 2:23:35 PM

    Can anyone help?

    I would suggest checking the "Use passive mode transfers" box in the Firewall section of Preferences. Does that improve things?

    I had tried passive mode with these firewall settings in the past, but could never sign-on in passive mode. After several more rounds of trial and error with various proxy types available to me with my firewall/ICS software installed on my networked gateway computer (PPPshar), passive mode with proxy type Socks 4.3 seems to work as long as file type automatic is not used. Inconvenient, but liveable compromise.
