    each time i try to load a trial version, i am told that my trial version is expired even though i have just downloaded it.

    what gives?

    Fetch starts the trial period the first time you run a trial copy on that computer. If you leave the expiration message on the screen for a while (one second for every day since the expiration date) eventually the "Next Time" button will be enabled and you can press it to use Fetch.
