I'd be curious to see the transcripts on X of connection attempts with and without PASV enabled.

It looks like PASV was disabled in both of those sessions (i.e. they both use PORT commands instead of PASV). It looks like you're behind a Network Address Translation gateway, so I would expect PASV to work better. Is the "Use passive mode transfers (PASV)" box checked in the Firewall section of Preferences?

Yes...dounle and triple checked it...even again right now...PASV mode is selected.

That is very weird! When the "Use passive mode transfers (PASV)" box is checked, Fetch should not use the PORT command -- but your transcript shows the PORT command.
I should mention that changes you make to that setting only take effect with the next transfer window you open. Could you try again to get a transcript with PASV rather than PORT commands?

Cancel everything! I just found that although I had PASV mode selected in the Network Preferences, I DIDN'T have it selected in the Fetch preferences.
Fixed and it worked.
Though The app (4.0...) does run signifficantly slower than fetch 3 does.
It takes about a minute for the directory to completely load, in 4.0 in OS X whereas it takes about 3 seconds in 3.0 running in Classic Mode under OS 9.1.
I'm running a Fairly new 400 mhz G4 on a dsl line.
What's up with that?

Loading file lists is slow in Fetch 4.0 on Mac OS X; I'm hoping to improve things before the release.

Hi,
I'm using Mac OS X, with Fetch 4.0b7.
When I attempt to log in to any of my bookmarked directories for the sites I maintain, I receive the error "Port Command Rejected."
When i launch Fetch 3.0.3 in Classic mode, I can log in and see the file directory, but uploads never complete. (The circle fills in all the way...but the dog...never stops...must be tired.)
Using the same set of preferences and launching in Mac Os 9.1 (not classic), Fetch 3.0.3 works perfectly.
Any fixes for 4.0b7?
I already tried swithcing to pasv mode in the proxies section of Network preferences.
Thanks.
