I am trying to set up a directory for viewing and downloading files from a web browser but am unable. We have a directory (which I didnt set up) that can has files in it and they can be viewed and downloaded in the browser. The path goes something like this a>b>c>d (d contains the files). What I want is a>b>x (where i want to put the new files. But when I set it up and check it in the browser i get the message "Directory Listing Denied. This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed."

Some help resolving this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Andrew

That's an issue with the web server, and different web servers use different mechanisms to control whether a directory can be listed. For example, the Apache web server uses .htaccess files. I would recommend asking your web hosting provider for help.

    Thanks,

Thanks Jim. we have subsequently found out that the web guy who set everything up had set up security measures to prevent people from making directories viewable on the web.
