In uploading php files it seems as though something is stripped or added to make them unusable. Likewise if downloaded off the server they become Fetch iconed files and if edited and returned are NG as well.

I've gone to the php.com site and others have had the same problem with Fetch but have reported success with Transmit. I really want to use Fetch and not pay for another ftp client when I like this one.

The other users said uploading in ASCII form did not help. Would uploading in raw data be advisable? Most of the files are suffixed php with a few cgi or css.

This is uploading from Mac OS 9.1
Will try to find out type of server and OS used on the other end in the meanwhile.

I'm back...it's a Cobalt RAQ, possibly running Apache?

I have heard reports of problems uploading the phpBB package, because its files contain some special characters that can be translated by Fetch's "Translate ISO Characters" option in the Misc section of Preferences. The fix is to uncheck that option. Does that work for you?

    Thanks,

I set prefs to up/download as text, saved BBedit files in plain text with Dos breaks, unchecked ISO translations and so far, so good.

    Thanks. :-)
