Problems Connecting to a Server (2 posts)

    I'm trying to connect to the MIT server and I typed in the correct host, user name and password, it doesn't connect and it gives me the error message, "error on user id: Must perform authentication before identifying USER". I'm new at this, so I don't understand what it means. Does anybody here? If you do, could you tell me how I can get rid of this problem? Thanks!

    Is it possible that the server requires use of GSS or KClient security? You probably should contact the MIT help desk for instructions.
