problems with Edit command and BBEdit 7.1.4 (4 posts)

When I try to use the Remote >Edit command with BBEdit 7.1.4 as my text editor, I get the following error:

"Fetch could not edit <filename> because a file was not found."

I just installed Leopard on my MacBook Pro (2.33 GHz Intel Core Duo) and was not having the problem prior to installing Leopard.

When I set TextWrangler 2.2.1 as my text editor, I do not get the error.

Since I have the TextWrangler workaround, this is not a critical problem for me; but I was curious whether anyone might be able to identify this as a Leopard issue or as an issue with using an older version of BBEdit.

    TIA,
    Sean

    Hi Sean,

Unfortunately, this is an incompatibility between that version of BBEdit on Leopard. We have received a couple of user reports similar to yours, and our investigations duplicated the problem you describe when using BBEdit 7.1.4 with Fetch on Leopard.

Editing with a current version of BBEdit (version 8.7.2) and Fetch works correctly on Leopard.

So, the solution to the problem is to update BBEdit, or use the current version of TextWrangler for editing.

Thanks, and please let us know if you have any more question.
