I have been trying forever to get an ftp program to work through our MS Proxy Server. I have tried everything. At the moment I can actually get on, but as I go deaper into our web site the folders are empty. I get an error message that says "Server Response: Can't open data connection" Sometimes I don't even get an error message and the dog just keeps running and other times I can actually see the contents of the folder.

In the firewal settings I have checked PASV mode, Proxy Type: Socks 4.3, Proxy Host: our host, Port: 1080 and our id and password. I also unchecked "Use internet config".

I've tried to bypass the proxy, but then I get nothing. I also tried to use MacSSH, but that didn't help either.

Honestly I've been trying this for months. Please help I can't handle dial up anymore.

    Thanks, Sarah

Those are the right settings, but getting Mac software to work through MS Proxy Server seems to be as much a matter of luck as anything. Could you post the contents of the Fetch Transcript window after you get an empty directory or error message?

I wish I was in a position to test against such a proxy server; it is difficult to tell what is going wrong without hands-on testing. You might try unchecking "Use passive mode transfers (PASV)", but I'd be surprised if that fixed things.
