Hi Rachel,
Since the files iWeb creates probably don't have the same names as the files of the old website, you may not be able to replace them directly by just copying the new site on top of the old site. You'll probably need to delete the old files from the server, and then upload your new files.
You may want to download the old files from the server and put them somewhere safe on your Macintosh before doing that, just in case you need to put them back up again for some reason.
There are many common gotchas when uploading iWeb created websites; we have a help topic about using Fetch with iWeb, which you can read here:
http://www.fetchsoftworks.com/FetchWebHelp/Contents/Tutorial/UsingFetchWithiWeb.html
If you still have questions after reading that over, let us know.
Thanks,
Scott McGuire

Hi Rachel,
Are you getting an error when you try to upload?
Or does the Fetch dog cursor just and run and run?
Or does Fetch report success, but you don't see your webpages?
Thanks,
Scott McGuire

Thank you for being so nice! I drop all my files into the fetch box, and it says its uploaded them all.
But i've got afew files 'left over' from the old website that i don't seem able to delete, fetch says "fetch could not delete "htdocs" because the FTP server says that the requested item was not a folder or could not be accessed"
I've got this issue with the 'htdocs' folder and also two folders called 'private' and 'logfiles'.
when i go onto the website address 'www.trecleeaterclog.org.uk the website says "Directory Listing Denied
This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed."hope someone has the answer!
Thank you
Rachel

Hi Rachel,
The 'htdocs', 'private', and 'logfiles' folder are used by the server for various important functions and should not be deleted; that's probably why you get an error when you try to delete them.
In particular, the 'htdocs' folder is probably where you are supposed to put your webpages in order for the to appear properly.
My guess is in order to make things work correctly, you should do the following:
* Connect to the server.
* In the Fetch file list, double-click on the htdocs folder to open it.
* Then upload your new iWeb pages into the htdocs folder.See if that works.
Thanks,
Scott McGuire

ok, i've (finally) managed to connect, i've just taken over the website for a club i belong to.
The lady doing it before had been using dreamweaver, but i've re-made the website in iWeb, and now i can't get the new files to replace the old ones and upload.
I'm probably doing something really silly, but any help would be great!!!
Thanks
Rachel
