I have been trying to upload files to a host site, which I have done successfully for years. I upgraded the version of fetch to make sure that wasn't the problem, but it didn't help. I have entered in the hostname correctly, but am continuing to get the error message, "An FTP connection could not be opened because the server could not be found." I've also made sure the website is functioning properly, which it is.

    Hi,

It sounds like the hostname that you previously used for FTP connections is not in use any more. To find out the correct hostname to use you should contact your web hosting company.

    Thanks,

I upgraded to the new Fetch version only a day or so ago. Access to one website worked fine initially, but after shutting my computer down and restarting, I am getting the Mac OS error -25293 message for each and every website on my list. Looking at your responses, Mr. Matthews, particularly the one above, you seem to be putting the problem on everything other than your upgraded program. My old version of Fetch worked fine, with no problems, for all of the websites I operate. After installing the upgrade, none of them now work. It's clear that the problem is not with "the hostname that you previously used for FTP connections is not in use any more," but with something in your upgrade that's either corrupting or deleting the information. I would suggest you look first at the upgraded Fetch to see what may be causing the problem and, if you find it, provide an immediate fix. I've been a fan of your program for years. Until this problem is fixed, I no longer am.

    Hi Jesse,

I don't think a newer version of Fetch is responsible for the problem that Delores reported above, because she was seeing the problem before she tried the Fetch upgrade. It is unfortunately common for web hosting companies to change the hostname used for FTP logins, and that seems like the most likely explanation for this problem, but I'm happy to work with Delores to get to the bottom of of it.

The -25293 error is caused by a permission problem in Apple's macOS keychain software. It has been reported by users of other programs from other developers, so it isn't specific to Fetch. I am communicating with other developers and Apple about this, and it seems to be related to the iCloud Keychain feature. I am hopeful that it will be resolved in a system update.

    Thanks,
