Recent Server List Only Shows Three Items (8 posts)

    My Recent Server List only shows the last three items at a time. Is there a way to fix this? Should be ten, right?

    Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi Dean,

    The Fetch Recent Connections menu will show you up to 10 of the last connections you made in Fetch.

    Just to double-check, you are looking for your recent connections in one of these two places:

    * Go to the Fetch menu, and choose Recent Connections
    * Click the small button with a clock icon to the right of the Hostname field in the New Connection dialog (only available in Fetch 5 or later)

    ?

    If you are sure you are looking in one of those places for your recent connections and still only seeing three recent connections, please tell us which version of Fetch you are using and we'll investigate further.

    Thanks,

    Hi Scott,

    I am using Fetch 5.6 on a Mac Pro Quad-core, running Mac 10.6.5

    In the upload interface I am using the clock icon. The menu item has the same problem.

    I just tried clearing the list and starting over, and now I only get the last TWO items! (I guess I will quit trying that!) I think the problem began when I upgraded to this new machine and OS. But I cannot remember which version of Fetch I was using beforehand.

    Love the software otherwise. Thanks for the quick response.

    Hi Dean,

    Thanks for the additional information.

    The next thing to try is to remove your Fetch preferences files and see if that fixes the problem.

    Please do the following:

    * Quit Fetch.
    * Click the desktop background to select the Finder.
    * In the Finder, go to the "Go" menu, and choose "Home"
    * Open the Library folder
    * Open the Preferences folder
    * Find the com.fetchsoftworks.Fetch.plist and Fetch Prefs files, and move them to the Desktop. (You may not have both of these files, and that's okay.) Do not put the files in the Trash, since we may want to look at them again.

    Then open Fetch, connect to 4-5 different servers, and see if that fixes the problem.

    Let us know what happens.

    Thanks,

    Scott,

    Should each folder FOLDER I have been to at a given server be listed?

    Or just one listing PER SERVER (also showing, and going to, the last folder I went to)?

    There are only two servers I generally go to. Can you send me your ftp address and password. Or even for a couple of servers. Please go to my website, www.mainephoto.com, and there is an email link you can use. Then I can see if we can build the list to more than two.

    I THOUGHT that in the past, it would list each folder as a connection. (Am I wrong?) Now it will seemingly list only one final destination per server.

    Hi Dean,

    Yes, the Recent Connections menu only shows one listing per server. It will remember the last folder you accessed on that folder, but if you connect to a different folder on the same server, the existing entry will be updated - a second entry will not be created.

    The Fetch Recent Connections menu has always worked like this; it has never shown different items for each folder. So yes, if you usually only access 2-3 servers, that's probably why you never see more than 3 entries in it.

    Our FTP site is ftp.fetchsoftworks.com ; leave the username and password blank to access it.

    Thanks,

    Scott,

    I connected to your site, and it now shows up on the list.

    I just misunderstood. I am sorry for having taken up your time with this needlessly.

    I have now figured out the Shortcuts, which take care of my needs perfectly.

    Thanks,

    Dean

    Hi Dean,

    No need to apologize - I always think that finding out there isn't a problem after all is a good resolution!

    And yes, if you want to have saved connections that go to specific folders, setting up shortcuts is the way to go - sorry, I should have mentioned that.

    Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

    Best,
