Repeated uploading the same file (5 posts)

I'm uploading a file to a system called Libsyn each week. I can only upload it to a dropbox and as soon as the upload is complete, the Libsyn system removes the file from the dropbox and puts it in the publishing system. It seems that when this happens, Fetch thinks the file isn't there and starts to upload it again.

I asked the Libsyn support people how to get around this and they said:

"Please make sure your FTP client does not have an auto retry on upload setting turned on, most do and this tends to cause problems with our FTP server."

I can't find an 'auto retry on upload' setting anywhere in Fetch -- is there one and is this likely to be the problem?

Fetch will auto-retry uploads if they fail. Perhaps it appears to Fetch that these uploads are failing?

You can turn off auto-retry by following these steps:

    1) Quit Fetch
    2) Choose Utilities from the Go menu in the Finder
    3) Open the Terminal application
    4) Enter the following:

defaults write com.fetchsoftworks.Fetch DisableAutoRetry -bool true

    and press Return

Let me know if that solves the problem.

    Thanks,

It counted all the way down to zero time remaining but then said:

"Fetch could not put "nbtb165.mp3" because the file transfer stalled.

Try resuming the transfer (see Fetch Help for instructions on resuming file transfers)."

There does seem to be a file on the system but I can't tell if it is complete because they seem to occupy a different amount of space on the Libsyn server and my Mac desktop.

    Hi Cliff,

I would recommend trying the upload again, and then choosing Fetch Transcript from the Window menu and submitting the transcript at http://fetchsoftworks.com/fetch/feedback . We'll take a look and see what we can figure out.

    Thanks,

    Jim,

    OK, submitted the transcript.

    Best wishes,
